Louisiana is one of the best places to go fishing in the entire country---and this little fishing town, Venice, LA, is the fishing capital of the entire state. Over the past few years, from Hurricane Katrina to the BP Oil Spill, this community has definitely taken a beating, like many other small towns in Louisiana. But its resilience and ability to thrive through adversity has really been something special, and it's still one of the very best places to go fishing in Louisiana. If you're looking for quiet towns in Louisiana, this is a wonderful place to be.
Life in Venice still centers around the Venice Marina, which was rebuilt after Katrina.
It still looks similar to how it has always looked, however, and it is still the destination for those who want access to one of the most fertile estuaries in the entire world.
Do you like fresh seafood? There are also some awesome seafood restaurants around the town that you will love.
There are some really delicious spots that truly offer some of the best catches you will find anywhere.
Before Hurricane Katrina, many structures from the original town, like this home, were still standing.
But the storm was brutal for the community, and most — if not all — of the historical structures of the town were washed away.
But the fishing town was still resilient, and within a few years time, the marina was back to its former glory.
Shrimp boats like these are found everywhere, as well as a large number of fishing charters.
It's easy to see why this is one of the most popular fishing towns in the country.
There's just no other place where you can have such unfettered access to the rich waters of the Gulf of Mexico — where the Mississippi reaches those waters, no less.
So consider taking a trip all the way to the tip of Louisiana, known by some as the fishing capital of the world.
You will no doubt fall in love with this fertile, gorgeous land and the people who call it home.
