While many businesses stay on top of social media trends and dive right into the digital side of marketing, there are plenty that prefers the old-school approach of word of mouth. If the product is that good, it’ll sell itself, right? That’s certainly the case with Bear’s Restaurant, a humble little eatery that’s home to some of the best po’boys in Louisiana. They’re so good, they don’t even need a website!
You’ll find Bear’s Restaurant in downtown Covington.
While many may not think of Covington as a small town, the historic downtown area still embodies that small-town charm that Covington came to be known for. This restaurant is right on the outskirts of downtown, but it has been there for so long that it is basically grandfathered into that part of town.
The most important thing you’ll need to know is Bear’s hours of operation.
They have very specific hours, so be sure to check before you make the journey to Bear's.
Hours of operation:
Tuesday - Friday: 10:30 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Sorry, Bear’s doesn’t do weekends (can you blame them?). You’ll have to make this journey during the week!
Once you order at the counter, find yourself a table.
The place fills up quickly, so you’ll want to get there early if you plan on dining in. Not bad for a restaurant that doesn't have a website!
Of course, you can always take your po’boy to go and enjoy it at a nearby park.
Bear’s is known for having some of the best po’boys in Louisiana and we’d have to agree.
The menu keeps it pretty simple. There are about 13 different sandwiches/po’boys on the menu, ranging from old-school French fry po’boys to BBQ beef and burgers.
The two fan favorites here are the shrimp po’boy and the roast beef po’boy.
Our favorite is the roast beef po’boy. Just look at it!
You can get any of their po’boys on po’boy bread or a bun, dressed or not.
These po'boys are overflowing — they're certainly not shy about the toppings! You'll need a stack of napkins to get through a Bear's po'boy, which we all know is the standard measurement for how good a po'boy is. At Bear's? 10/10 napkin rating.
Get yourself some fries and a homemade sweet treat and you've got yourself a lunch of champions.
