We all know that summers in Louisiana are pretty brutal. The heat can be unbearable at times, and even if you've spent your entire life here, you never really get used to it. If you’re planning on visiting Louisiana this summer, here are some words of wisdom:
1. First, let’s just put it out there: it’s hot.
Really hot. Combine the heat with the humidity and you’re in for a whole new world of unbearable.
2. Getting into your car on a hot day is like stepping into a sauna you didn’t want.
And that belt buckle that’s been roasting in the hot sun? Torture. Handle it with care (or oven mitts).
3. Beware: the mosquitos are insane.
Stock up on bug spray; you’re going to need it.
4. Your activities will be determined by the thermometer.
Go to a festival? In this heat? Are you crazy?
5. But you can still spend some time outside, right?
Yup! Beat the heat with a trip to a water park!
6. You'll become quite the river rat during the summer.
We hope you like to splash around because your summer plans will definitely involve time in the water.
7. What about fishing?
Sure, if waking up a 4 a.m. is your thing. Even the fish don't want to be out in the heat of the day!
8. But what about the scenery?
Remember that bug spray we warned you about? You’ll need it for the trails.
