There are few towns as picturesque and unique as Natchitoches.

This historic city was established in 1714, making it the oldest permanent settlement in the Louisiana Purchase.

Nestled along the scenic Cane River, Natchitoches is one of those charming towns that’s perfect for a spring adventure.

Perfectly walkable and filled with shopping opportunities, Natchitoches will delight just about everyone.

At the heart of Natchitoches, the National Historic Landmark District is an absolute must-see.

This 33-block area is peppered with boutiques, art galleries, historic houses, local restaurants, and much more.

You can take a guided tour through the district or just wander around at your own pace.

Do some window shopping and sit for a spell at one of the many pocket parks throughout the area.

Natchitoches is also a bed and breakfast lover’s dream.

With over 35 bed and breakfasts, you’ll have a tough time deciding on where to stay. Make a weekend getaway out of it stay in one of the many options peppered throughout the city. As you’re exploring, be sure to pop into Kaffie-Frederick General Mercantile.

While you’re in Natchitoches, you have to swing by Lasyone’s for one of their world-famous meat pies.

Lasyone’s has been a Natchitoches landmark for over 50 years.

People come from all over just to try one of these delicacies - and you should too.

Whether you get a traditional meat pie or spice it up with one of the crawfish pies, you’re sure to fall in love at first bite. The menu also features an assortment is Cajun and Creole classics, as well as American fare, so you can feast on everything from gumbo to a cheeseburger.
