When you think of Kentucky, you may not think of beach towns. For states along the coast, there are sure to be tiny waterfront towns that dot the beaches, but here in Kentucky, we are more known for rolling hills, mountains, and lakes. Luckily, some of those lakes happen to have welcoming beaches, and even a beach town or two. If you've vacationed along Kentucky Lake, perhaps you've heard of the small Kentucky beach town of Gilbertsville. Located right next to the Kentucky Dam, this city is all about the water and it's definitely a tiny beach town that you may not have heard of yet, but it makes for one of the best beach vacations in Kentucky.
The town of Gilbertsville is located on the northern end of Kentucky Lake, our state's largest lake. It's right next to the Kentucky Dam, making it a unique location and a one-of-a-kind destination.
This town is all about the water and you can find nearly every aquatic activity along its shores. With a number of marinas, accommodations, restaurants, and activities, it's the perfect vacation spot in Kentucky.
The lake itself is stunning and beautifully viewed from this beach town.
And, since we are calling it a beach town, it does, in fact, have a sandy beach. This relaxing spot is the perfect summer hideaway and is located with Kentucky Dam Village State Resort Park. The park is one amazing option if you wish to spend the night in town.
Gilbertsville may be a sleepy town in the winter, but it comes to life in the spring and you can find fun on the water from sunrise to sunset.
Gilbertsville is a popular fishing and boating destination, and you won't experience views like this anywhere else in Kentucky.
Another popular destination within the town is Moors Resort & Marina. They offer a variety of accommodations and most of them are right on the water.
You can live the ultimate beach life while rocking on your porch, overlooking the lake.
The resort also offers a lovely pool for guests, as well as a number of other amenities.
The restaurant within the resort, Ralph's Harborview Bar & Grill, is the ideal spot to grab a bite to eat without leaving the water's edge or the lakefront breeze.
Unless you've already discovered the beauty of Gilbertsville, chances are you haven't heard of this beach town that's tucked away on Kentucky's popular lake.
When you need to relax and unwind in an unassuming town in Kentucky, consider this waterfront paradise that shows off the best of this region of our state.
