Have you ever found yourself daydreaming about abandoned places near me in Kentucky? There's something eerily alluring about abandoned places that make us want to explore them and imagine what it used to be like. There are a lot of abandoned places in Kentucky you can visit, ranging from houses to barns to stores and more, but this road trip will take you to some of the most well-known abandoned spots in the state. We recommend breaking this trip into a couple of days, and as always, please be safe when exploring the area. Don't go inside anywhere that doesn't look safe, and if there are No Trespassing signs, be sure to admire the sight from afar, where it is both legal and safe.

1. Creelsboro, KY
Not much is left of this Kentucky ghost town in Russell County. Located along the Cumberland River, this town used to be a significant trading post in the 1800s. Now all that's left is old buildings and land used mainly for agriculture. It's truly one of the ghost towns in Kentucky. It's an interesting stop along this road trip in Kentucky.
2. Several buildings in Neon, KY
This town, also known as Fleming-Neon, is located in Letcher County in eastern Kentucky. It's a small town with a few buildings, such as the one pictured, that have been abandoned. It used to be a busy little town in its heyday because it was trading post for nearby coal towns. Letcher County is a beautiful place to visit, so you can drive through while checking out these incredible overlooks.
3. Hayswood Hospital, Maysville
This abandoned old hospital is located near the intersection of Market Street and 4th Street in Maysville. It has been abandoned since the early 1980s. The building is said to be haunted, and paranormal groups have even done ghost hunts there. 4. The Ghost Ship, Petersburg
When you think of abandoned ships, you probably don't think of one sitting in a Kentucky creek. This old ship is located just off of the Ohio River. 5. Merchants Ice Tower, Louisville
There will probably be No Trespassing Signs around this old building in Louisville's Smoketown neighborhood, so it's best to admire this abandoned place in KY from the outside.
6. Waverly Hills Sanatorium, Louisville
Perhaps one of the most well known and most haunted places in Kentucky, Waverly Hills Sanatorium is truly creepy. This old building used to be home to a tuberculosis hospital, and has been the subject of countless paranormal investigations.
