It's not large enough to drive on, but this yellow brick road is covered in names and places, and perfect for clicking your heels together. Good thing you're already home!
Welcome to Liberal, Kansas, and the Dorothy's House Museum and attraction.
The exibit portion was originally created and displayed in Topeka, but the attraction was moved to Liberal by its creator, Linda Windler. Now, it's part of the Coronado Museum area, and displays history of the movie and a close replica of Dorothy's home.
Inside the home, you can find pieces of dated furniture and items from the home that have been made to look like they belong to the characters from the movie. You can see one of Dorothy's dresses in the right hand side.
Here, you can walk, skip, and hop along the yellow brick road just like you've seen in the movie, though these bricks are paved with all of the childhood wonder you had when you first saw the movie.
Additionally, there's an Oz themed playground for any younger visitors you may bring with you. Sticking your head in the holes to take silly photos is always fun, no matter your age.
No matter where you are in the world, people know what Kansas is because of this movie. It's a great place to see, and it's perfect for making lifetime memories.
Winter in Kansas can get quite cold. We may not have as much snow as other areas of the country, but there are plenty of snowy destinations to check out if you're looking for a winter getaway in Kansas! One of the snowiest parts of the state that's perfect for a winter day trip in Kansas is the area around Rawlins County, near Colorado. This is one of the coldest parts of the state and it's especially magnificent in the wintertime.

If you want to get technical, the city weather station that averaged the most snow in Kansas between 1985-2015 is McDonald, a rural town with a population of just over 100. This small town is home to McDonald Grocery, an old-fashioned grocery store with a deli that's one of the few places to eat out in this small town.
McDonald is located in Rawlins County, which is quite small. This entire county's population is approximately 2,500. This is the type of town many out-of-state visitors might imagine when they think of Kansas.
However, despite its small size, there are plenty of things to do in this charming area, no matter when you visit. Big Ed's Steakhouse in Bird City serves up delicious steaks in a friendly small-town joint. And if you need somewhere to stay, check out the It'll Do Motel in Atwood.

And while there is much to love in this area, it's certainly more snowy here. McDonald's annual snowfall between 1985 and 2015 was 37.6 inches, considerably higher than the state average of about 19 inches.
But the snow certainly isn't a bad thing — it's absolutely beautiful in the wintertime! Visiting here is one of the most fun things to do in Kansas in winter.
