Kansas is full of gorgeous lakes, but which one is perfect for the awesome vacation you've always wanted?
Wilson Lake is the fourth largest lake (by capacity) and is full of things to do. You can enjoy the local wildlife, camp out, fish for bass, or take a hike. Honestly, I can't think of anything that suits Kansans as much as a trip to the lake. What are you waiting for? Get out there!
As far as the eye can see, there are wonderful rolling hills to enjoy during your vacation. They have three hiking trails that range from one mile to 23 miles, so make sure you're prepared for an extended walk (or bike ride) if you choose the longer one.
Otherwise, most of the time you should spend at the lake itself. It's one of Kansas' prettiest lakes, with some of the clearest water to boot.
Around many parts of the lake are rocky outcroppings and sandy beaches leading to the water.
Climbing up and around these structures is fun, but don't dive into the water below, or you might find yourself removed from your vacation. They don't want you getting hurt!
These red rocks cover many parts of Kansas' ever-changing landscape, and they make the perfect background for vacation memories and photographs.
Here's a handy map to show you where you're headed on this awesome vacation.
Afterwards, make sure you plan a trip to go see the abandoned ruins in the Flint Hills. They're just amazing!
