You may or may not be aware of this, but if you're not, get ready for it: did you know there are a number of gorgeous, endlessly purple lavender fields in Kansas? It's true! They are always a stunning thing to look at throughout the spring and summer months, not to mention their immensely therapeutic use in aromatherapy and mood-lifting. Visit these spots earlier in the year to enjoy the view, or come near harvest toward the end of summer to enjoy products made with all the local lavender you could ever hope for. They're all ready to bloom in the next several months, so get to planning that trip! Allow us to make some recommendations.
We've listed some of our favorite lavender farms in all of Kansas in this road trip for all things lavender. Why not?
You can start this trip at any point during the circle, and it will bring you back to your original location by the time it's over. Let's go! Grab your calendars, and start planning for the best road trip you'll ever take during the warmer months of the year.
1. The Lavender Patch Farm - Fort Scott
Starting in Fort Scott, our first item on this list has been in operation since 2012 and they've since made a name for themselves as a local legend in the springtime. Make sure to visit their website to confirm hours of operation and to check for any upcoming events!
Address: 2376 Locust Road, Fort Scott, Kansas, 66701
2. Washington Creek Lavender - Lawrence
A little closer to some larger cities and coming with a few more dining options, Washington Creek Lavender is another great choice for anyone who loves lavender, the color purple, and shopping at small local businesses. They make plenty of lavender products, and their 6,000+ lavender plants are enough to create all sorts of things with. If you can dream it, they can probably do it.
Address: 858 East 800th Road, Lawrence, Kansas, 66047
3. Prairie Lavender Farm - Bennington
Next up is probably one of the largest lavender farms in Kansas! They call themselves Prairie Lavender. They've been here since 2002, and grow 12 varieties of lavender with more than 3,000 plants. They also make home-made products like wreaths, lotion, linen spray, and even lavender honey (which is delicious). The more, the merrier, right? We like to think so.
Address: 69 Alpine Ridge Lane, Bennington, Kansas, 67422
4. Morford Lavender Farm - Kanopolis
Next up, in Kanopolis, is Morford Lavender Farm. Your home is sure to smell wonderful after all the lavender farms you've visited and bought products from at this point, that's for sure. Morford is another charming farm on the list with quality products, as well as hybrid lavender plants they're currently experimenting with. The results may smell slightly different from your typical modern lavender plant, but definitely in a good way. We can't wait!
Address: 1376 18th Road, Kanopolis, Kansas, 67454
5. Gertie's Lavender Farm - Burrton
The last, but absolutely not least, stop on our trip is Gertie's Lavender Farm, a lovely working farm in Burrton, Kansas, which just so happens to have an upcoming lavender festival on June 12, 2021 (tentatively). As if we couldn't possibly love lavender more, they went and threw a whole event about it, and we're definitely here for it. Make sure to consult their official Facebook page for the most up-to-date information about the festival.
Address: 8101 South Rayl Road, Burrton, Kansas, 67020
