About an hour south of Indy is Brown County, Indiana, an astonishingly beautiful region of the Midwest that we're pretty darn proud to call our own. It's the perfect destination for a short and sweet road trip in which you fill that gas tank up just one time, and given gas prices these days, well, that sounds pretty perfect to us. From Indianapolis, hop in the car and head south to Brown County. You're in for a splendid treat. Take this short road trip in Indiana as soon as you get the opportunity to do so - we promise it's worth your time!
The places we're going to suggest you visit are all within just a few miles of one another, making it super easy to have an adventure on just one tank of gas.
First, we recommend a visit to Beanblossom Covered Bridge. Built in 1880 over Bean Blossom Creek (hence the name), this stunning example of human engineering is a lovely reminder of just how beautiful Indiana is. It's a great way to kick off your Brown County adventure!
Our next suggestion is perhaps our favorite one of this entire article: the amazing Brown County State Park, a haven for outdoors enthusiasts to do almost whatever they please within the stunning beauty of Indiana's most sought-after region.
Brown County State Park is thought to be the most beautiful place in all of Indiana. It is 16,000 acres of hiking, fishing, camping, biking... anything your heart desires! You cannot visit Brown County without heading to Brown County State Park.
Take a break and head to the nearby town of Nashville to visit the Nashville General Store and Bakery.
For the best cinnamon rolls you'll ever have in your life, this is the place to go. Seriously, the baked goods at this little mom-and-pop stop are much too good to pass up. Luckily, it's quite close to Brown County State Park.
Next, spend some time at Yellowwood State Forest.
You can choose to stay the night via camping, or a simple hike through the immaculate scenery. The woods are always a relaxing place to run away to - especially when they're located in Brown County.
Finally, with whatever time you find yourself left, be sure to meander around downtown Nashville's Arts Village.
Enjoy events, galleries, music, and more that you'll never find anywhere else. Visit with talented local artists, and find something beautiful to take home.
You never know what you'll find, but one thing is certain: whatever it is, it's going to be ultra-unique.
