The city is dominated by the courthouse in the center of town, which is known as the “Grand Old Lady.” This architectural marvel was once called the "Marriage Mill” because you didn’t have to wait to receive a marriage license.

The Lake County Sheriff’s House & Jail is an iconic building that once housed the infamous prisoner John Dillinger. Tours are available May-October, and it even offers spooky Halloween events.
You can tour John Dillinger’s cell, which he escaped from in 1934. This is also the set where Public Enemies was filmed with Johnny Depp playing the American gangster. It offers historic tours during the day and paranormal tours at night. The tour guide has ghosting equipment to help you spot full-body apparitions!
For a breath of fresh air, be sure to visit the delightful Lemon Lake County Park. Lemon Lake has over 400 acres with walking trails, a dog park, five disc golf courses, a playground, and a sledding hill in the winter.
Vintage shoppers will love visiting Crown Antique Mall, which has three floors filled to the brim with antiques. In the warmer months, it offers an outdoor flea market and hosts an antique car show.
