Looking for a fun activity to enjoy outdoors? We have just the spot for you. Take your bike out to the Cardinal Greenway for miles and miles of uninterrupted trail to enjoy.
The Cardinal Greenway is considered a rail-trail, meaning that it once was an actual train route.
The Wysor Street Depot, in Muncie, Indiana opened in 1901 by the Cincinnati, Richmond, and Muncie railroad line. But in 1949, passenger service discontinued and freight took precedence for travel. But then in 1985, the Cardinal was rerouted and the Wysor Depot was entirely abandoned.
In 1998, the Cardinal Greenway opened to the public for recreational use.
At the time, only 10 miles had been created to use.
Today, the trail is 62 miles long and passes through multiple towns in Indiana.
If you don't have a bike, take advantage of their Cardinal Greenways’ Community Cruiser Program.
This amazing service allows cyclists to rent bikes for free to use on the trail.
In addition to free rentable bikes, Cardinal Greenway offers free air pumps for cyclists to use to ensure you have a great ride and experience on the trail.
The path is incredibly maintained with water fountains and maps located throughout the path.
Come with a group or enjoy a peaceful ride all to yourself.
In addition to cyclists, runners really enjoy this trail too.
While Muncie, Indiana is considered to be the hub of the trail, you can pick up the greenway in other towns in Indiana as well.
If you're looking for a ride, run, or stroll through nature, head on over to The Cardinal Greenway.
