Here, you can experience an old-fashioned Christmas with outdoor ice skating, twinkling lights, letters to Santa, and even a Christmas market. Rupert is typically a quiet, small town. But, once the holidays approach, it becomes a destination big on holiday cheer. Throughout the month of December, this small Idaho town hosts the Rupert Christmas Festival, a month-long event that will get you in the holiday spirit and help you experience the old-fashioned Christmas of your dreams.
The event typically kicks off each year with an annual Christmas-tree lighting ceremony at Rupert’s main plaza. Not only can you enjoy the hundreds of twinkling Christmas lights, but you can visit Santa, shop, and enjoy a delicious bowl of chili at the Chili Feed. The night finishes off with a spectacular firework display.
You can spend select evenings throughout December at the plaza's outdoor ice skating rink. Bring your family and friends, or even have a party at this outdoor rink while surrounded by holiday lights.
All throughout the month, there are traditional holiday activities that the entire family will enjoy. Watch Christmas concerts, learn new skills in cookie decorating and centerpiece-making classes, watch classic Christmas movies, and more. Shopping at the Christmas Market is one of the highlights of Christmas City, USA. At this market, vendors are located in huts all around the ice skating rink. This is the perfect place to find unique gifts or even take something home for yourself.
