Kellogg, ID, is approximately 40 miles southeast of Coeur d’Alene and is located in Silver Valley. It sits right along Interstate 90, and more than 2,000 people call this beautiful town home.
There is so much to love about Kellogg that once you visit, you may have a hard time leaving. Tucked into the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, amid the Panhandle National Forest, and along the South Fork of the Coeur d’Alene River, this small town in Shoshone County is breathtaking.
Like many other places in Idaho, Kellogg began as a mining town. The town was established in 1886 after lead was discovered in the area.
While many attractions bring visitors from all over the state and elsewhere, one of this town’s most popular activities is its gondola. Kellogg is home to the longest gondola ride in America, and it’s definitely worth your time when you're looking for things to do in Kellogg, Idaho.
This is a 3.1-mile gondola ride that takes you through some of Idaho’s most breathtaking scenery. You will start in downtown Kellogg and ride to the top of Silver Mountain. It's a must-do for everyone living or visiting Shoshone County.
Not only can you take a ride up Silver Mountain on a gondola, but you can also enjoy this mountain's incredible skiing. Silver Mountain Resort is located in this small town, and in the winter, it offers incredible skiing, snowboarding, and snow tubing adventures. If the weather doesn't want to cooperate, there is still plenty to do in Kellogg. All year long, you can pretend you are at the beach when you visit Silver Rapids Indoor Waterpark. This is the largest indoor waterpark in Idaho, and it’s one place in town that the entire family will enjoy.
