If you haven’t been to Caldwell in a while, you might be surprised by how beautiful this revitalized town has become. Here’s why you need to plan a day trip to Caldwell.
Caldwell is the county seat of Canyon County and it’s considered part of the Boise metro area. It takes just 30 minutes to drive from downtown Boise to pretty downtown Caldwell.
It’s well worth the trip. It’s more beautiful than ever thanks to a revitalization effort that restored Indian Creek, a river that runs through town. It had been covered over and used for sewage disposal – now it’s a pedestrian paradise that even hosts fancy farm-to-fork dinners.
The town also has a big rodeo tradition. Caldwell Night Rodeo, an annual event, has been called one of the premier rodeos in the United States.
Foodies will find some delicious discoveries in downtown Caldwell. The Caldwell Farm to Fork Farmer’s Market takes place downtown at Indian Creek Plaza. It’s a chance to sample some of Idaho’s fresh and delicious food products.
If you enjoy a good glass of wine, Caldwell is a must-visit. It’s the start of the Sunnyslope Wine Trail, which travels to 16 area wineries and vineyards. Traveling the trail is a spectacular way to discover some of the country’s great wineries.
Caldwell hosts lively events throughout the year. In the winter, don’t miss Caldwell’s Winter Wonderland. The downtown is decorated with over a million lights!
