From seeing the famed wooden wonderland of Driftwood Beach to observing nearly 3,000 acres of saltwater marshes in Harris Neck Wildlife Refuge, you'll have one heck of an adventure along this trek. You can start and end whichever way you'd like, but we're starting off down south at Crooked River State Park.
We’re starting off this road trip on the right foot at the famed Crooked River State Park in St. Marys, Georgia. There is so much to do and see here, you’ll want to begin with a hike through nature. Keep an eye out for wild tortoises roaming under the towering oak trees.
Keep the natural beauty coming as you make your way to St. Simons Island, the largest barrier island in the Golden Isles. A few of the more scenic stops along this island include the stunning lighthouse, St. Simons Pier, and of course, the beach! Driftwood Beach in Jekyll Island is truly stunning and a place that you have to see in person at least once in your lifetime. As you make your way over through Darien, Georgia we recommend making a pitstop at the Darien River Waterfront Park & Docks. Located right on the Darien River, visitors will be able to enjoy walking the area, the bordering dock, and learning all about the fishing history of this quiet sea town.
If you’re an avid bird lover or you simply enjoy watching wildlife in their natural habitats, then Harris Neck Wildlife Refuge is for you. Established back in 1962, this wildlife refuge consists of over 2,700 acres of marshlands, woods, grassland, and more. Fannie's On the Beach in Tybee Island is right across from the Atlantic and boasts a seriously impressive tropical menu.
