From our beaches to our mountains, there's so many wonderful outdoor attractions in Georgia. This trip will require a bit of time in the car: a little over 300 miles. Don't worry, though! You'll have plenty of time to get out and get some fresh air and stretch your legs.
Sure, we love wandering deep in the woods. But it's also nice when you can get a bit of nature in a more urban environment. The Augusta Riverwalk provides a paved riverside trail along the Savannah River that's one of our favorite riverwalks in Georgia. 2. Ocmulgee Mounds National Historical Park: 1207 Emery Hwy, Macon, GA 31217
Head on down to Macon and you'll find a great site where history and nature combine. The Ocmulgee Mounds National Historical Park is a fascinating place where you can learn about thousands of years of Native American history. There are several mounds here, plus a great museum and miles of hiking trails.
3. High Falls State Park: 76 High Falls Park Dr, Jackson, GA 30233
High Falls State Park is great when you're not feeling up for extensive hiking. The beautiful waterfall here is one of the most accessible waterfalls in Georgia: you don't even need to get out of the car! Of course, if you do decide to hike, there are plenty of trails to explore in the park's 1,000 acres.
4. F.D. Roosevelt State Park: 2970 GA-190, Pine Mountain, GA 31822
As the largest state park in Georgia, there's a lot to love about F.D. Roosevelt State Park. This place is a 9,000-acre wonderland, with 40 miles of trails, incredible forests, and practically endless skies.
5. Providence Canyon State Park: 8930 Canyon Rd, Lumpkin, GA 31815
Your final stop on this road trip through the great outdoors in Georgia will take you to Providence Canyon State Park. This place is considered one of the great natural wonders of Georgia, but it's actually not an entirely natural feature. There was a canyon here originally, but the land was greatly eroded due to poor agricultural practices to get to the "little Grand Canyon" that we know today.

What better way to spend the holiday than a winter road trip to see the festive lights? The first stop on one of the best road trips in Georgia is Tybee Island. Tybee Island often tops the list of best beaches in Georgia, and it's really no wonder why. This barrier island boasts wide, sandy beaches. You'll find plenty of historical attractions here, like Fort Screven and a beautiful lighthouse.
Another can't-miss spot is the Tybee Island Marine Science Center. There are some great exhibits here, and the museum offers marsh treks to get up close and personal in a "floating classroom."
