So many Christmasy towns to explore in Michigan -- so little time. The following town in the state is great for visiting year-round, particularly during the holiday season when the Bavarian-esque buildings are decked out in twinkling lights and classic greenery. Frankenmuth is about an hour and a half drive from Detroit, but it's so worth the distance.
The area was settled by German immigrants long ago and the town still retains much of its Bavarian culture. In fact, Frankenmuth is known as Michigan's Little Bavaria.
As soon as you arrive, you'll feel like you've been transported to Germany. From the buildings on Main Street...
...to the local inn, it seems every inch of this place is filled with character.

...or better yet, visit during the holiday season to see the Bavarian buildings adorned with twinkling lights galore. It looks like a magical gingerbread village!

This place markets itself as The World's Largest Christmas Store and it's truly a must-see in person.
