Delaware's a small state, and while nothing is really in the "middle of nowhere", the closest we can come is Laurel, a remote town in Delaware that's surrounded by natural beauty and features some of the best dining in southwestern Delaware. Laurel is one of the oldest towns in Delaware, having originally been settled by Native Americans.
By the 1790s, most of the Native Americans had moved from the town to Pennsylvania, and the present town was laid out along Broad Creek.
Since the early days, Laurel has been home to important Delaware figureheads.
Four different Governors of Delaware have come from this little town, along with a handful of NFL players and two professional wrestlers.
Laurel's top attraction is Trap Pond State Park.
Trap Pond features one of Delaware's best cabin campgrounds, a stunning bald cypress lake, and miles of trails to explore.
Laurel is home to some great dining spots, too.
The Laurel Coffee Shop makes the best, freshest donuts in Sussex County! Try one right out of the fryer and you'll be hooked.
Tacos La Placita and Tacos Chebalita both serve up incredible, mouthwatering Mexican food.
