As any resident of the First State knows, we've got no shortage of small towns that are perfect weekend getaways. It seems like just about every small town in Delaware has attractions galore and a cute little boardwalk that's just begging for you to take a weekend trip there. One such area is Bethany Beach in Sussex County. The town hovers around 1,000 residents throughout most of the year, but in the summer months, more than 15,000 tourists arrive from all over the country. Just one visit and you'll see why it's such a popular destination!
The Joseph Olson Boardwalk is small, but has several souvenir shops and food stands.
Bethany Beach lacks the bars and chaos that larger beaches can have, so it tends to attract more of a family-oriented crowd. It's a great spot to take kids on a warm day.
It can occasionally be difficult to find a nice spot to set up at near the ocean, as like most Delaware beaches, this one can get a little crowded!
There's something so relaxing about taking an oceanside stroll down a beach, particularly one as pleasant as Bethany Beach.
Don't you just want to sink your toes into that sand?
Spending an afternoon at the beach is a great way to soak up some rays and relax.
Once you've had your fun in the sun and are ready for a meal, make sure to visit the Cottage Cafe (we highly recommend the fries!) or DiFebo's for some delicious authentic Italian.
