Delaware is known as a tiny state, and our small towns really help promote that image! There are so many scattered throughout our three counties, but we'd like to shine the spotlight on a few that really capture small-town Delaware's charm and spirit. Here are a few of the best walkable towns in Delaware!
1. Milford
Downtown Milford is one of the most exciting Main Street districts in Delaware. It seems like there's always some sort of festival going on! Stop by for their Bug and Bud festival in the spring for a treat.
2. Bethany Beach
Bethany Beach is known as one of Delaware's quiet resorts, and it's easy to see why. When Rehoboth and Dewey Beach are packed with tourists summer long, Bethany focuses on community events and family-friendly fun.
3. New Castle
New Castle is jam-packed with history. Walk around and you'll feel like you've been transported back in time! Be sure to dine at Jessop's Tavern for a real trip to the past.
4. Georgetown
Georgetown is a great spot for foodies. The best tacos in the state are tucked away downtown, and there are some wonderful restaurants that you'll pass on your way in, too. Enjoy an after-dinner walk around the Circle.
5. Lewes
Is there any better place on earth than Lewes, Delaware? We're not so sure there is! This adorable and historic town is the perfect spot to get away from it all, with some of the best shopping and dining in the state. Take the ferry to Cape May, New Jersey, for a double dose of small town fun!
6. Milton
Milton is a hidden gem town near the beaches. You won't find the wild crowds and you will find parking, so plan to visit next time you're heading to the coast!
7. Middletown
Middletown isn't exactly a tiny town by Delaware standards, but the downtown and Main Street districts are so quaint and charming! Enjoy a meal at Sully's Irish Pub for a great experience right in the heart of town.
