Union has the unique honor of being the tiniest town in the state, with a population just under 900. But believe it or not, the sleepy town is also home to Traveler Restaurant, the most unique diner experience in the state! If you love late breakfasts, a good book, and excellent service, then you will love sitting down at this restaurant! Check it out:
Traveler Restaurant is a quaint, family-friendly diner that locals love! Their specialty is food and books, a combo you don't hear very often!
Visitors are also quite amused by the moose sculpture peeping out from the nearby trees. This place is definitely quirky, inside and out, making it a must visit.
Once inside, you'll immediately recognize the classic diner look and cozy feel. But you may be taken aback by the fact that you're basically eating inside a library. That's because patrons can take home a free book!
They serve breakfast until 11, which means you don't have to wake up too early to enjoy morning favorites. But lunch and dinner items are also superb, served up fresh and in large portions.
So no matter what you order, you're sure to enjoy it!
Head downstairs to the book cellar for more books to discover, and find your favorite to take home! Or pick your book first and enjoy some pages over a cup of coffee. It's up to you!
A popular spot since the 70s, this diner is a real classic. It feels remote, and has a nice view of the water at an affordable price. So head on over!
Traveler Restaurant is located at 1257 Buckley Highway, Union, CT 06076.
