It doesn't have to be Halloween in order to have a little bit of spooky fun in Connecticut. For those who like to take ghost hunting adventures or haunted small town experiences to the next level, then we have the ultimate town that you have got to put on your bucket list. The scariest town in Connecticut happens to have never been inhabited by humans, and in fact, it was built for another purpose entirely. Have we piqued your interest yet? Great, because this place in Connecticut happens to have one of the strangest, spookiest backstories that you'll ever hear. Buckle in, folks, this is one wild ride...
First things first, we should probably begin with how the heck you would ever get here...
Little People's Village is located in Middlebury, Connecticut, and it might be a bit difficult to find. On Google Maps you'll be looking for Umberfield Road, pictured above. The road is quiet and innocent, plus there aren't any signs posted so you're free to visit. At the end of the road, where it transitions from street to woods, you take a short hike straight to the village.
Little People's Village is a collection of stone doll houses.
But they weren't built for dolls. Tucked in to the woods, this place was built to house demons. Legend has it that a couple from Middlebury lived alone, not too far from the site, when the wife began to see what she believed to be fairies. So she demanded her husband build them houses in the woods.
But the magic quickly became madness.
It was clear the small folk had evil intentions. The man began to hear the voices of the little people, who demanded he build more and more homes for them. As they gathered, the negative energy increased, eventually driving the man to kill himself.
Over the years, people have come here in an attempt to contact the other side.
Others come to sit on the throne, thought to be built for the king of the little people. Legend says if you sit there you will die 7 years later. Whatever you believe, this place is definitely strange.
