In a state as densely-populated as ours, it can be difficult to find somewhere where you truly feel disconnected from it all. We're a small state, but we have a relatively high population for our size, and it can feel like everyone is crammed into just a few large cities. Next time you're looking for a peaceful getaway in Connecticut, one great little town to check out is Scotland. This little town in Windham County has a population of around 1,500, and it's in a predominantly rural area, without many surrounding large cities. It feels almost like a quaint step back in time to when the world seemed greener and things were less complicated. Check it out:
The lovely Route 14 runs right through Scotland.
This is a short road, at only a little over 24 miles in total, but the four miles around Scotland have been designated as a state scenic route.
For a small town, there's a lot of history preserved here!
