The website Livability recently ranked the 100 best places to live in the country. They considered small-to-medium sized cities based on a variety of factors. In no surprise to anyone who loves the Nutmeg State; Connecticut had four towns ranked on the list!
The highest on Livability's list (in terms of Connecticut towns) was Norwalk, coming in at 59th. This southwestern city on Long Island Sound is one of the most populated cities in the state, hovering just under 100,000 residents.
There's a lot to do here. The town has plenty of events, such as the Norwalk Oyster Festival and Norwalk Film Festival. Additionally, the Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk is a blast and one of the top-rated attractions in Connecticut.
Next up on Livability's list was Hartford, ranked 69th. Hartford has so much history and culture! It's known on a global scale as the home of the headquarters of many insurance companies.
The city has a ton of attractions, as you'd expect from a capital city. One of our favorites is the Mark Twain House and Museum. It's the site where the famed author wrote many of his best-known works, including "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer."
Danbury has previously been ranked by USA Today as one of the best cities to live in the United States, and it was 85th on Livability's list.
Danbury is packed with history. (It was once known as the Hatting Capital of the World for the large number of hats produced here. ) It's also got beautiful natural areas. Candlewood Lake is a popular area for outdoor recreation.
New Haven was one of the first planned cities in the country, and we feel like it's one of the best. Its role as the home of Yale University means that there are all kinds of great attractions in the city.
New Haven was ranked 87th on Livability's list.
Art museums, pizzas, outdoor activities: there's so much to explore in New Haven!
