Nothing captures the magnificent spirit of Christmas more than the gorgeous New England scenery of a Hallmark movie, and boy oh boy is Christmas in Connecticut a stand out when it comes to these things. These seven Connecticut Christmas towns like to keep the magic of the holidays going every year. They are so good at this that we like to think they are some of the best Christmas towns in the United States!
1. Mystic
Mystic's quaint and picturesque charm has enchanted visitors for years. Town events keep the Christmas season merry and bright from the end of November through January. Festive events have included Victorian Lantern Tours, a Parade of Lights, and Christmas Carolers. Mystic keeps up the holiday spirit with plenty of activities, including a Holiday Lights Spectacular in the Olde Mystic Village.
2. Chester
Chester shines as brightly as any star during the Christmas season. In this small, storybook town you will see stars lit up all across town.
3. Greenwich
Greenwich literally brings in the childhood magic of Christmas each year. You and the whole family can visit Santa and some of his representatives - Dasher, Dancer, and Vixen - for the annual Greenwich Reindeer Festival.
4. Falls Village
As the second smallest town in Connecticut, this sleepy little town of Falls Village is everything you expect to see in a Hallmark movie. They have a sense of community that ensures they keep the joy of the holidays alive. Although they couldn't have their traditional Santa visit and caroling, the town hosted a drive up tree lighting.
5. Essex
Essex always dresses up in her best holiday attire. This historic town celebrates by decking the halls and doorways of its charming downtown shops and scheduling holiday tours of the local historic homes. For its every year the Ivoryton Village Alliance lights up its 500,000 lights and lets the Christmas spirit glow.
6. Milford
The town of Milford loves everything that is Christmas. Driving through this happy, little town you'll find neighborhoods and shops that make this town look like a true Christmas village. Even the local firehouse gets into the fun by decorating the firetruck.
7. New Haven
A while back, a storm destroyed New Haven's Christmas tree. In true Christmas movie fashion, the community came together with 40 residents offering a replacement tree. An anonymous donor replaced the tree and the beautiful tree lighting was able to go on. Now, that's what you would expect in a Hallmark movie.
The most important part of keeping the Spirit of Christmas is the sense of community. These little Connecticut Christmas Towns keep that spirit going all through the year. For more holiday joy take a look at the best Christmas main streets in Connecticut!
