Looking for a great place to celebrate Christmas in Connecticut isn't very hard. From our amazing festivals to all the magnificent light displays, there's no shortage of festive cheer here! There are so many wonderful places to experience the holly jolly season in the Nutmeg State, and one of our favorites is the Old Lyme, CT area. This coastal town in New London County is a popular spot for summer thanks to its waterfront location, but it's also one of the best Christmas towns in Connecticut. It's well-known for being an artsy community, so as you can imagine, that translates well into imaginative holiday decor! Check it out:
One of the town's most popular Christmas celebrations is at the lovely Florence Griswold Museum.
The art museum has 12 acres of historic buildings and walking trails, plus an impressive collection of paintings and artwork.
Come Christmas, the museum goes all-out with Christmas decorations.
I love how many of the trees are decorated with painted palettes and other art-themed goodies! The palettes are painted each year by local artists.
The museum's tea parties, Miss Florence's Teas, are always a huge hit.
These reservation-only events feature teas, tea sandwiches and seasonal sweets. To reserve your spot at Miss Florence's Teas, check out the Florence Griswold Museum website.
The Florence Griswold Museum is a lovely place to experience Christmas in Old Lyme, CT, but it's not the only spot.
The 14-room Old Lyme Inn is one of the most charming hotels in Connecticut. It features holiday teas, visits with Santa, and special holiday performances at the on-site jazz club.
