Do you have company coming to visit in the next few months? If you answered yes, you have come to the right place. Instead of taking them to the same generic run-of-the-mill location, consider taking them to:
Please note, Celestial Seasonings Tour and Tea Shop is temporarily closed.
1. Great Divide Brewing Co. (Denver)
Don't get me wrong; I love Coors as much as the next person (if not more,) but there is something more cool and fun about a microbrewery like Great Divide. (Bonus: The tours are free AND you get to sample the fare.)
2. Grand Lake
It's no secret that Colorado is home to dozens of scenic mountain towns... so why Grand Lake? For starters, it is WAY less crowded than the more well-known tourist areas and there is no shortage of shopping, dining, and sightseeing to do around this charming community.
3. North Cheyenne Canon Park and Starsmore Discovery Center (Colorado Springs)
The best kept secret in Colorado Springs might just be the North Cheyenne Canon Park and Starsmore Discovery Center, which features eight picturesque hiking trails and an indoor center full of interactive exhibits.
4. Ski Cooper (Leadville)
Why fight the crowds and pay outrageous lift prices when you can Ski Cooper? Visit just once and you'll see why they're the "Heart of Skiing in the Heart of the Rockies."
5. Santa's Workshop North Pole (Cascade)
Are your guests looking for a thrill or two? Skip the long lines at Elitches and take them to Santa's Workshop. Sure, the rides aren't as big and thrilling, but the park is WAY more quiet and less stressful than the previously mentioned theme park.
6. Eastern Plains
Did you know that the entire eastern side of our state is covered in beautiful, rolling plains? Why not hit the road and give them a go? Take a ride on Burlington's historic Kit Carson Carousel, stay the night at the luxurious Claremont Inn in Stratton, and lose yourself at the fascinating Limon Heritage Museum & Railroad Park (pictured).
7. Crystal Mill (Marble)
Hiking boots: $95.
Bottles of water for 10-mile (round trip) hike: $12.
Seeing the breathtaking Mill for the first time: Priceless.
8. The Devil's Causeway (Yampa)
Does the 10-mile hike to Crystal Mill seem a bit daunting? Then consider the 4.8 mile Devil's Causeway hike. The only catch? You'll be hiking along a narrow "land bridge" that varies from 3 - 50 ft. wide. (Those who have hiked it have said nothing but good things---I mean, are you seeing these incredible views?!)
9. Paint Mines Interpretive Park (Calhan)
Located just 35-miles northeast of Colorado Springs is the colorful Paint Mines Interpretive Park, which feature a series of FREE trails that wind around a unique and chalky archaeological district.
10. Ute Mountain Tribal Park (Cortez)
Please note, Ute Mountain Tribal Park has permanently closed.
You have seen the magnificent dwellings at Mesa Verde National Park, but have you taken a guided tour of the spectacular Ute Mountain Tribal Park with a knowledgeable Ute Indian tour guide?
11. Celestial Seasonings Tour and Tea Shop (Boulder)
Will you and your guests survive the mint room?
