There are many Christmas towns in Colorado to explore -- if only you know where to look! If you have been watching way too many holiday movies on the Hallmark Channel, then we have a place that's bound to delight and surprise you. The towns depicted in those wholesome movies are so very festive and — dare we say — twinkly? Fortunately for those of us in the Centennial State, we can live this magic in real life, thanks to the twinkly Christmas town of Georgetown, Colorado.
Located less than an hour from Denver, Georgetown is a former mining town that — despite running out of ore generations ago — is still beloved for its exciting landscape, Georgetown Loop Railroad, and fabulous Christmas scene.
For 61 years, Georgetown has transformed into one of the twinkliest Christmas towns in the state, thanks to such traditions as couples strolling around in Victorian-era apparel, horse-drawn carriage rides, and the world-famous Christmas Market.
Please note: Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the 2020 Georgetown Christmas Market has been canceled but should return in 2021.
What is a twinkly Christmas town without beautiful lights and magical displays? Georgetown has those, too!
If you are looking for a unique gift for you or someone you love, you are sure to find it in Georgetown, too, via the town's many local boutiques and one-of-a-kind stores.
You never know what you will see around Christmastime in Georgetown!
