If you are a Colorado native, there is a good chance that you are familiar with the Gunnison County town of Crested Butte... but have you ever taken then time to visit? We happen to think that the town of 1,500, whose motto is aptly "A National Historic District," is the best kept secret in Colorado. Here's why:
1. First and foremost, this view:
Mount Crested Butte? Don't mind if we do!
2. The town was named the "Wildflower Capital of Colorado" by the Colorado General Assembly.
Any guesses as to why?

4. Crested Butte has a rich and fascinating history.
Originally occupied by the Ute People, Crested Butte went on to become a supply town for surrounding the mines, as well as a prominent ranching community.
