If you have been married, you know that it can be both one of the hardest, yet best things you ever do. However, when it comes to these eight Colorado towns, it may have been harder than expected, as different resources have reported them as having the highest divorce rates in the state:
1. Salida
According to RoadSnacks's 10 Drunkest Cities in Colorado list, Salida is the 2nd drunkest city in the state because of both its high divorce rate (21.5%) and the fact that it has the 7th highest bars and liquor stores per capita in Colorado.
2. Grand Junction
Uh-oh, Grand Junction! Not only did Huffington Post name you a city with one of the highest divorce rates in the state, they named you one of the top ten cities for divorce in America with a 12.8% divorce population AND divorced population rank of 45.
3. Pueblo
Another Colorado city that made HuffPo's "Top 10 Cities" list? Pueblo, with its divorce rate of 13.4% and divorced population rank of 25.
4. Wheat Ridge
A few other towns listed on RoadSnacks's "Drunkest Cities" list? Wheat Ridge (with a divorce rate of 18.13%)...
5. Carbondale
...this scenic mountain town (17.81% divorce rate; 20th most bars per capita)...
6. Englewood
...a Denver suburb (with its 16.6% divorce rate and 15th most liquor stores per capita)...
7. Fort Lupton
...and even Small Town, USA (15.05% divorce rate).
8. Denver
We conclude this list with our own state capital, which, while housing a population of nearly 700,000, also posts a divorce rate of 11.3% (2009).
While this isn't the most uplifting subject to talk about, there is good news: According to Colorado Public Radio, the divorce rate in Colorado is the LOWEST its been in a decade, dropping to just over 4% per every 1,000 people.
