Every state has their fair share of cool, sometimes flat-out bizarre town names and Colorado is no exception. Don't believe me when I say that some of our town names are pretty strange and/or epic? Then check out this list of 15 of the coolest (and or/weirdest) small towns in Colorado that you've probably never heard of.
1. Jimtown (Population: 290)
Oh gee, I wonder who named THAT town... (Interesting fact: Jimtown took its present name, Creede, in the late 1800s.)
2. Bonanza (Population: 16)
You're going to have the theme music stuck in your head the rest of the day... #sorrynotsorry
3. Last Chance (Population: 23)
Don't make me warn you again... (Fun fact: The TV show "Hee Haw" gave the town a shout out during their 1970s run!)
4. Sams (Population Unavailable)
I DARE you to find a Costco within a 50-mile radius.
5. Climax (Population: a mine)
Ooh... I'll have what they're having! *wink*
6. Lay (Population: 0)
Ironically located just before Climax...
7. Bountiful (Population: Not as bountiful as you think)
Oh, you Bountiful-ians... always so generous!
8. Hygiene (Population: 350)
Not a snarky side comment, but an interesting bit of history: the town was originally named for its sanitarium that treated patients with tuberculosis.
9. Joes (Population: 80)
I wanted to name it "Annieville," but whatever.
10. No Name (Population: 123)
YOU THOUGHT THAT NO NAME WOULD BE BETTER THAN ANNIEVILLE?!
11. Leadville (Population: 2,602)
No gold; all lead. (True story!)
12. Deer Trail (Population: 546)
Trust me... you do NOT want to follow that deer's trail ANYWHERE.
13. Lulu City (Population: Nada)
"Oh, Lulu! Little Lulu, Little Lulu, we love you!"
14. Paradox (Population: 106)
All 106 residents of Paradox are drowning in the fountain of eternal life...
15. Dix (Population: You don't want to know)
A tribute to the guy who named Jimtown.
How many of these Colorado towns were you already familiar with?
