Cincinnati is a river town, and we're not just referring to the Ohio River that beautifully outlines our downtown. There are many running bodies of water throughout the area that are perfect for canoe adventures, kayaking, and floating, and summer is the best time to get out and enjoy them. Our city's riverfront rental companies are open and ready for the season and one locally-owned place is a must-try in Cincinnati. Green Acres Canoe Rental is right on the Indiana/Kentucky/Ohio border and offers wonderful opportunities to get out on the Whitewater River. Pick your favorite vessel, perhaps try tubing in Cincinnati, and then enjoy this all-day float trip that will make your Cincinnati summer complete.
Green Acres Canoe Rental is located in Harrison, just off I-275 on the Whitewater River. It's a picturesque and serene spot that's ideal for any type of water adventure.
Green Acres offers a variety of options for enjoying the river and provides fun for all ages (children must be at least four years old AND weigh over 40 lbs.). When you arrive, you'll purchase your trip and decide on either a canoe, kayak, or tube, and then pick out a life jacket. A bus will take you to the starting point, which is also where you will get your boat.
Green Acres offers two different trips along the river - a 3-mile trip and an 8-mile trip. Canoes, kayaks, rafts, and tubes are welcome on the shorter trip, while the longer trip is for canoes and kayaks only.
If you want to make this an all-day affair, choose a canoe or kayak and go for the 8-mile journey.
They open on weekdays at 10 a.m. and on weekends and holidays 9 a.m., with the last bus leaving for the 8-mile trip at 2 p.m. You can get more details and all of your questions answered through the Green Acres website (linked below).
When you're finished with your float trip, be sure to check out all Green Acres has to offer.
On the weekends, you can grab a bite to eat at The Food Truck and the kids will love the flavored slushies.
There's a large area to enjoy your food, and you can also bring your own packed meals and drinks.
Many people wonder about the cleanliness of the rivers in our area, and you can feel very confident about your float in the Whitewater. According to the Ohio EPA, the Whitewater River has "Exceptional Water Quality," making it the cleanest river in the Tri-State. It's just another reason to add Green Acres to your summer must-do list.
There may not be a better way to spend a hot summer day than with a day-long float trip and tubing in Cincinnati. If you find yourself with a day that is free of plans, put on your water shoes, grab some sunscreen, and head to Green Acres Canoe Rental for an unforgettable trip on the Whitewater.
