We are a bit spoiled here in Southern California when it comes to beautiful places. From its stunning scenery to its picturesque views, SoCal is a feast for the eyes in every direction. But there's one spot in particular that isn't just beautiful, it's also incredibly unique.
The Town of Avalon: Tucked away on Santa Catalina Island approximately 22 miles off the Southern California coast you'll find a little town with loads of charm.
To reach Avalon, you'll need to go by ferry from one of three SoCal locations --San Pedro, Long Beach, or Dana Point. The high-speed ferry will get you there in about an hour. If you're the adventurous type, you can also travel by helicopter which will get you there in 15 minutes.
Primarily a resort community, the Town of Avalon feels like a magical snow globe of wonder from the moment you step foot on the island-- minus the snow, of course.
One of the first things you'll notice about Avalon is its lack of cars. Due to its restrictions on vehicles, it's primarily a walking community with the exception of golf carts, bikes and a trolley. This only adds to its charm.
The city of Avalon is surrounded by the pristine beauty of Avalon Bay. From every angle you look, you'll see the magnificent bay in the distance with the city's reflection shining back at you.
The colorful houses dotted along the hillside add even more charm to this quaint city.
There is never a dull moment during your visit to Avalon. You can start your day exploring the town along its endless walking paths.
Head to the town's main street where you'll find local shops and restaurants perfect for exploring.
You'll find a charming stretch of beach along the main street that is always a great way to pass some time.
Or linger near the water and enjoy this view of the boats along the bay.
A trip to Avalon isn't complete without a tour of the casino.
And for a real treat, take a starlight stroll and see this casino lit up at night as it's always a sight to behold.
No matter where your Avalon adventures take you, there's no doubt you'll be doing lots of relaxing here.
Isn't this spot a treat? For another beautiful SoCal city take a look at this other tiny town in Southern California that's worth a visit.
