San Francisco International Airport SFO) was built in 1934. Today, SFO is the largest airport in Northern California and the second busiest in California. If you are flying out of SFO then there are many things you can do beside wait for your flight.
1. Museum Exhibits
SFO has a museum called the Louis A. Turpen Aviation Museum and Library.
2. Art Exhibitions
You'll feel like you're at an art gallery or exhibition instead of an airport. The atmosphere at some parts of SFO seem genuinely creative.
3. A Yoga room
Yes, SFO airport has a yoga room. There is space devoted to relaxation, self-reflection and practicing yoga. There is no charge to use the facility as well. Lastly, this space is open 24 hours a day as well.
4. A reflection room
If you want peace and quiet then SFO has a place for you too. A center for quiet self-reflection and meditation. This room is located in the International Terminal Main Hall and open daily from 7:00 am to 11:00 pm.
5. Eclectic Shops
SFO actually has one-of-a-kind stores. Expect a varied mix of bookstores, gift shops, travel outfitters, designer brands and luxury boutiques. Also, retailers are local, featuring authentic San Francisco merchandise.
6. Public Exhibits
The public exhibits are the easiest to find in SFO. If you're headed out of the city then you'll surely pass by these public exhibits on any number of subjects from cars, history, media, culture, music, technology, and of course aviation.
7. Self Guided Tours
Fun for children of all ages. Visit Terminal 2 and wander around and get lost. You'll find iPad kiosks at the Information Booths and lots of things to see and explore at the touch of a button.
8. Historical Exihibitions
SFO has museum exhibits on cultural, art, historical and scientific topics. SFO Museum presents approximately forty exhibitions throughout the terminals annually. This year celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Summer of Love.
9. Sleek and Minimalistic Decor
You'll feel like you're at an art gallery or exhibition instead of an airport. The atmosphere at some parts of SFO seem genuinely creative and futuristic.
10. A Relaxing Spa
Professional spa services at SFO include massages, manicures, pedicures, facials and waxing. This is in the International Terminal. Open Daily, 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.
