Silver Lake is actually a reservoir located about 20 miles south of South Lake Tahoe, right near Kirkwood Mountain Resort.

Accessing Silver Lake has become much more convenient over the years. Between 1848 and 1863 it could only be reached by traveling along the Old Emigrant Road.
Today, you can easily find your way to this pristine mountain destination by taking the Carson Pass Highway, also known as Route 88.
