Whether you're a long-time Northern California resident or a traveller planning to visit soon, everyone should visit Carmel-by-the-Sea at some point in their lives. There's so much to love, from the charming town to some of the best hiking trails in the U.S. This magical town truly is as gorgeous as it is charming, and here are some photos just to prove how much it is straight out of a fairy tale.
1. Point Lobos State Natural Reserve
From sea lions to rocky stairs to gorgeous coastlines, Point Lobos has it all. You can spend all hiking around this gorgeous reserve, so don't forget to pack a picnic lunch.
2. Bird watching
Thanks to its proximity to the beach and its mild weather, Carmel-by-the-Sea sees many species of birds flying in and out of the area. Are you an avid bird watcher? Be sure to bring your binoculars and camera, because you'll be spotting all kinds of different winged animals in this town.
3. Lone Cypress
This is perhaps the loneliest tree in the world. This little cypress grows on a rocky ledge that juts out into the ocean, and tourists are so fascinated by it that city officials built a wall around the tree to protect it.
4. Carmel Beach City Park
At this gorgeous beach, you'll see children building sand castles, dog owners playing Frisbee with Fido, and families lounging in the water. What a great way to spend a sunny Saturday afternoon.
5. Katy's Place
For the best seafood brunch meal you've ever had, check out the famous Katy's Place. This crab benedict will get all your taste buds tingling. Find it at Mission St 5th & 6th Av, Carmel, CA 93921.
6. Pebble Beach Food & Wine Festival
This four-day festival is the premier epicurean event on the West Coast. Sample all different kinds of cuisines to your heart's content. Check out the details of next year's event at www.pbfw.com.
7. Corkscrew Cafe
The Corkscrew Cafe offers some of most delicious dining in Carmel-by-the-Sea. Stop by for healthy and yummy goodies, like this beautifully presented salad with chicken.
