The San Francisco Bay area is full of adventurous spots, so there is no reason not to enjoy these epic places. Some of these adventures are not in San Francisco, so make sure to give yourself some time to prepare. Let's take a look at these adventures every San Franciscan must make before it is too late!
1. Alamere Falls - Point Reyes National Seashore, Mesa Road, Bolinas, 94924

2. Land's End Trail - 680 Point Lobos Ave, San Francisco
An epic and landmark hike for San Franciscans and tourists alike. At 3.5 miles round-trip, it’s a steady but consistent workout, but easy. Whenever you feel winded or tired just pretend you’re stopping to take a picture or admiring the Golden Gate Bridge. Also, remember to stop along the Coastal Trail and check out the labyrinth at Eagle's Point.
3. Fort Miley Adventure Challenge Course - Lands End, San Francisco, 94121.
Fort Miley offers a course built out of trees, with cables, ladders and ropes located in Lands End. You have access to a ropes course and high challenge elements built in the trees of San Francisco using cables, ladders and ropes.
4. Fort Funston - Skyline Blvd, San Francisco, 94132
You can be extreme in San Francisco if you want too. Fort Funston has 60 meter-high bluffs that make this park one of the top hang-gliding launch points in the USA. Try it out!
5. Sunset Trail - Angel Island, San Francisco Bay
This is a fun hike near the city that requires effort. You'll start by taking the ferry to Angel Island from San Francisco. The beautiful scenery here will dazzle you. San Francisco Bay's largest island is between Marin and San Francisco counties. The hike for Sunset Trail is easy, following a flat, paved (wheelchair accessible) trail. One of the few hikes on an island too.
6. Muir Woods - 1 Muir Woods Rd, Mill Valley, 94941
This is beautiful spot you absolutely need to see! The biggest reason to come here is to appreciate one of the world’s last remaining coastal redwood forests, made up of the tallest living things on earth. If you are seeking a leisurely stroll in an ancient forest, near San Francisco, then Muir Woods is ideal.
7. Alcatraz - Alcatraz Island, San Francisco, 94122
An adventure that is at times historic, fun, and even scary. The whole experience of Alcatraz from the boat ride over to the island itself is an exhilarating and amazing outing.
8. The 16th Avenue Tiled Steps - Moraga St, San Francisco, 94122
Climb up these magical mosaic stairs on 16th Avenue. A gorgeous set of 164 masterfully painted and designed tile steps. At the top of the steps gives you a breathtaking view of the city.
9. Redwood Canopy Tour - 17 Conference Dr Mount Hermon, CA 95041
While natural hideaways abound in San Francisco, sometimes we may crave something a little more wild. Head about an hour-and-a-half south, deep into the redwood forest just outside Santa Cruz. Here, you’ll find Mount Hermon Adventures, where you can take an incredible canopy walk and fly through the air via zip line at 150 feet over the great redwoods.
10. Stinson Beach: 1 Calle Del Sierra, Stinson Beach, CA 94970
The drive to Stinson Beach is curvy and memorable enough. Once you've arrived, simply walk from the parking lot, and boom you're at this foggy marvelous beach.The trails springing from here are full of twists and plenty of adventure.
