Whether you're celebrating an anniversary, a birthday, or just want to enjoy a change of scenery, there are tons of great options to explore close to home. Pack your bags, fill your tanks, and take a look at these nine great weekend getaway destinations, all within a four-hour drive of Buffalo!
1. Corning
Corning is a two-hour and 15-minute drive from Buffalo. While you're visiting, be sure to explore the Corning Museum of Glass and stay the night at one of the town's quaint B&Bs.
2. Finger Lakes Wineries
The Finger Lakes are a popular spot for Western New Yorkers, for one obvious reason: WINE. Escape to private villas and sip some of the finest wines in New York while you enjoy the beautiful views of the Finger Lakes region.
3. Niagara Falls
Niagara Falls is a go-to getaway, only 27 minutes away from downtown Buffalo. Whether you want to enjoy the casino or cross the border to Canada, there are plenty of things to do at the Falls!
4. Ithaca
Ithaca is located two-and-a-half hours from Buffalo, and there are plenty of things to do in the small college town. Hike, head to a museum, or partake in a wine tour and see why they say, "Ithaca is gorges!"
5. Rochester
If you're looking a family staycation, load up the kids and travel one hour to Rochester. Fill your weekend itinerary with a trip to the Museum of Play and Seabreeze Amusement Park for exciting family fun!
6. Skaneateles
If quiet and quaint is your cup of tea, Skaneateles is the place for to be. This tiny town is just a 2 hour drive from Buffalo, and the picturesque views from the boardwalk alone are worth the drive! Get the full effect and stay at a B&B after you wander the village.
7. Syracuse
Syracuse is another quick two-and-a-half hour drive from Buffalo. While the city itself is similar in feel to Buffalo, there are plenty of things to enjoy: head to the zoo and indulge in Dinosaur BBQ while enjoying live music from local bands!
8. Saratoga Springs
Saratoga Springs is the longest trip on our list, but four-and-a-half hours in the car is well worth it when you arrive in this impressive town. Take to the local farmer's market and see Saratoga "spring" to life during track season. As an added bonus, you might be lucky enough to see a celebrity or two at the horse races!
9. Watkins Glen
We know you're not supposed to go chasing waterfalls, but in the case of Watkins Glen, it's totally acceptable to. Drive for two-and-a-half hours, hike for plenty more while you discover all that this beautiful area has to offer!
