For a refreshing escape in the Delta, plan a day trip to Wilson, AR. It's impossible to highlight just one spot in Wilson since the entire town has worthwhile attractions. This town has plenty of charm and even more to do! Let's take a town tour and see what adventures await us during a Wilson excursion.
From walnut grove to winery, Wilson is its own charming world in Northeastern Arkansas.
This may just be the best place in the state for small-town charm. The Delta community has plenty of places to explore for a day or weekend trip.
One of the first things you'll notice about the town is its abundance of nature.
The plethora of gardens and groves around the town immediately make your arrival feel welcoming. There's plenty of ways to enjoy this greenery, too! One way is through the weekly farmers market inside The Grange at Wilson Gardens. The market is open on Wednesdays between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. You can learn more on their Facebook Page.
A rather delicious way to enjoy the nature of the town is with a stop at the famous Wilson Cafe.
The pies here bring in hungry travelers from all over! That said, breakfast, lunch, and dinner are delightful here as well. You can see more of their menu by visiting their website.
In addition to the cooking wizardry of Chef Roberto Barth, there's another reason the food here is so delectable.
All of the veggies within the menu are from the nearby gardens! It's a hometown touch that makes all of these dishes so delicious.
There are two more stops to make while you're in town for the day.
One of which is White's Mercantile! Some interesting trivia: the store is owned by Holly Williams, daughter of Hank Williams Jr.! The general store has plenty to peruse including jewelry, clothing, decor, and gifts.
Eating and shopping aren't the only things to do at Wilson. Learn something new at the Hampson Archeological Museum.
This is the perfect stop for families to learn more about the Native Americans that first lived in this area. The museum is focused around James Kelly Hampson's archeological findings, specifically around the Nodena Site. Artifacts from an aboriginal village dating from 1400-1650 CE were uncovered here and are now featured at the museum. Hampson also found the skeletal remains of mastodon around here, too! For more information on the historic state park/museum, visit this site.
Although we love Wilson as a day trip, it's easy to stay even longer!
If you can't get enough of the town in one day then explore the nearby AirBnB rentals. Bevin's AirBnB holds six in a remodeled house in the heart of downtown. You can view the rental right here.
No matter how long you stay, you'll always want to make a return trip to Wilson!
