Stretching from the charming town of Mountain View to the picturesque town of Mountain Home, this scenic drive through Arkansas belongs on your bucket list.
On this incredible road trip through the Ozark Forest, we will take AR 5 to AR 201 which meanders along the White River...
...while passing through several beautiful small towns along the way.
Our journey begins in the charming town of Mountain View. Known for its preservation of folk music and culture, this charming town is one that you must explore.
Do stop and check out some of the local stores in town or perhaps stop by the gazebos at Washington Street Park to capture some cool pictures.
There are several points of interest nearby including the Ozark Folk Center State Park, Blanchard Springs Cavern, and Mirror Lake, just to name a few.
A stop at any of these attractions will entice the nature lover in the most remarkable way.
Just 4 miles outside of town, we'll come to our first official stop, Hell Creek Natural Area. This is a true hidden gem in the Ozarks that features caves, rock formations, and more.
You'll want to spend some time exploring the area, while discovering all its beauty.
From there, let's travel to the quaint town of Calico Rock. There you'll find one of the most breathtaking views in Arkansas.
Built in 1937, Sugarloaf Mountain Lookout Tower rises over 1,100 feet above sea level...
...and you'll witness rolling hills and Ozark forestry as far as the eye can see. The awe-inspiring vistas are truly a sight to behold.
Of course, have your camera in hand to capture all the glory of this stunning terrain.
If that weren't enough, just a short drive away, there is another overlook that will leave you breathless.
Towering at over 200 feet above the White River, the views from City Rock Bluff is unlike any other. Nature lovers will love marveling at all this beauty.
Once you've witnessed all that beauty, let's continue north on Highway 5 to the town of Norfork.
As the crown jewel of the town, the White River offers tons of recreational opportunities. There are also lots of scenic spots including the Norfork Lookout Point that are a must-visit.
From Norfork, we will connect to US Highway 201, which will take us straight into the town of Mountain Home. Home to Norfork Lake, Bull Shoals Lake, and more, this town is a hub for the outdoor adventurer.
Moreover, the town prides itself on a "heritage of hard work and determination" as well as a sense of community, making it a great destination to visit in Arkansas.
