Truth be told, it’s not hard to find a peaceful place to live in Arkansas. In fact, we have many small towns that offer stunning vistas, are brimming with charm, have adorable Main Streets, have a sense of community, and are rich in history. That’s especially true for Prairie Grove in northwest Arkansas. This charming Arkansas community is one of the most peaceful places to live in our state, and if you can’t live there, then I recommend that you add it to your list of small towns to visit. Come with me to explore this beautiful Ozark town and marvel at all its glory.
With just over 7,000 residents, Prairie Grove is a charming NWA community with small-town vibes, and it's one of the safest towns in our state...making it a great place to live or for a quick weekend getaway.
When you visit, you'll immediately notice a strong sense of community. Each year, the town hosts lots of events that bring the folks together. From annual festivals to fundraisers to a farmers market, there is always something going on in this delightful town.
And with its quintessential Main Street lined with adorable boutiques, antique shops, restaurants, and more, you'll want to take some time to stroll to admire it all.
Go hunting for treasures at Daisies & Olives, one of the most charming antique stores in town.
Or perhaps plan a trip in the spring or fall, to attend the Junk Ranch, one of the largest flea market events in Arkansas. Enjoy great food and live entertainment while you shop till you drop at this extravaganza.
For a slower pace, pack a picnic and marvel at the beauty of Bob Kidd Lake. Plus, this scenic oasis is a great spot for an afternoon stroll, fishing, boating, kayaking, and more.
If you're a history buff, then you're in for a treat. Prairie Grove Battlefield State Park is a must-visit. Known for having "America’s most intact Civil War battlefields," this 900-acre haven is bursting with Arkansas' rich history.

Of course, like any charming town in Arkansas, you'll find some incredible hidden gems. And Mel's Diner is a local treasure that you don't want to miss. This adorable 50s-themed diner has everything we love about small-town restaurants. Delicious food, great service, friendly local folks, and you might even see a vintage car in the parking lot.
The little ones will be delighted with a sweet treat from the local coffee shop, Magnolia Coffee House. Moreover, the family-owned coffee shop has a fun, artsy but super comfortable atmosphere for everyone.
