And there is no doubt that you’ll want to visit for yourself.
Nestled at the foothills of the Ozarks is the tiny town of Smithville. And with a population of under 100 residents, it’s not a place that visitors are flocking to.
But this small town has a hidden gem that you will love. The Ozark General Store is located off Highway 115, and it’s one of the best bakeries in Arkansas.
Unlike some other general stores, this market has only been open for approximately 4 years.
But don’t let that fool you because it has the same charm as the old-time general stores that we have grown to love.
It is filled with lots of locally made goods, crafts, as well as other merchandise, some of which you’ll find adorable.
They include handmade specialty gifts, soaps, candles, local honey, groceries, produce, hardware supplies, and so much more.
But what makes this general store stand out is the tiny bakery inside...and there are lots of freshly baked homemade goods to choose from.
Many can be enjoyed at the store, but some are also packaged, so you can enjoy them at home as well.
The made from scratch baked goods include breads, dinner rolls, cakes, cookies, pies, fudge, and so much more. Different treats are made daily, and special orders are welcomed openly.
You'll want to take home one of the banana, chocolate chip or blueberry banana breads, as they are always warm and fresh out of the oven.
But don’t skip over the Bundt cakes, pies, or the most adorable cupcakes that you will ever eat.
Of course, they’re baked fresh daily, and yes, they are as yummy as they look.
While all these baked goods are scrumptious, it’s the cinnamon rolls that are the crowd pleaser.
The old family recipe was passed down and of course, the rolls are always made with that extra bit of love.
There are also an assortment of cookies and seasonal treats that you will love, including the warm lemon bars that are to die for.
