12. Jasper

The scenic small town of Jasper is situated in the Ozark Mountains not far from the Buffalo National River in Newton County. 9. Batesville

History lovers will note that Batesville is home to Arkansas’ oldest downtown and its first urban farmstead. The area also celebrates its Scottish heritage annually at Lyon College with the Arkansas Scottish Festival. Main Street's attractive Pocket Park hosts beautiful mosaics and the fall weather is especially beautiful in a number of neighborhoods around town.

8. Mountain Home

One of Arkansas's more popular vacation destinations, Mountain Home is located in the southern Ozark Mountains between two stunning lakes – Norfork Lake to the east and Bull Shoals Lake to the west. Mountain Home is an excellent small town for exploring the Arkansas Ozarks' natural beauty. Downtown Mountain Home hosts historical buildings, great restaurants, and fun shops.

7. El Dorado

A former south Arkansas oil boom town in the 1920s, El Dorado is situated in the Arkansas Timberlands and boasts an excellently revitalized downtown district. Downtown El Dorado was named America's Best Downtown in 2009 by the National Trust for Historic Preservation. This charming town also hosts the South Arkansas Arboretum – 13 rolling acres of botanical gardens full of blooming plant life and walking trails.

6. Heber Springs

You can't help but be beautiful when you're located next to gorgeous Greers Ferry Lake. Located in northern Arkansas, Heber Springs is the perfect getaway for nature lovers. Tourists and locals alike enjoy shopping in the town's historic downtown area and sporty folks have their choice of Greers Ferry Lake or the nearby Little Red River to enjoy the outdoors.

5. Eureka Springs

Eureka Springs remains famous as a picturesque Ozark Mountain locale built into steep hillsides and surrounded by natural springs. 4. Magnolia

If you're an outdoors person, you'll love Magnolia! The historic downtown area has true southern charm with unique murals that celebrate the town's culture. Photographers will be enthralled with beautiful Logoly State Park north of town and nature lovers will like spending time on lovely Lake Columbia to the west of Magnolia.

Situated in the scenic Ozark Mountains and on the shore of glorious Greers Ferry Lake, the lakeside community of Fairfield Bay is indeed blessed with natural beauty. Van Buren - Seated on the banks of the mighty Arkansas River, Van Buren has gorgeous spots for nature photographers to enjoy. The town has a rich past made evident in Van Buren's historic Main Street district where beautiful restored buildings are located.
