There's no question that Arkansas is our favorite place in the country. There are some spots that just make you feel like there's nowhere else on Earth you'd rather be. Let's look at some of these places that make Arkansas better than anywhere else.
1. Buffalo National River
The first designated national river in the U.S. never fails to impress. This is one river where you could easily plan a year's worth of activities around, from summer float trips to winter equestrian trails.
2. Boxley Valley
The successful reintroduction of 112 elk in the 1980s has grown to a 500-member herd that can be best viewed along Ark. 43 and Ark. 21 in Boxley Valley. It's downright majestic to see these creatures roam through the morning fog.
3. Mirror Lake
This may be the most beautiful spot in all of Arkansas (but that's an extremely hard decision for anyone to make). Mirror Lake, its falls, and Blanchard Springs Caverns should be on everyone's bucket list. Take advantage of the rainbow trout fishing heaven or just hike around and enjoy the view.
4. Garvan Woodland Gardens
The 210-acre gardens in Hot Springs has no shortage of gorgeous flowers and architecture. Any seasonal visit promises for a memorable experience but our absolute favorite is the Tulip Extravaganza in spring.
5. Eureka Springs
By no means is this the only city worth visiting in Arkansas but this quirky city does stand out. It's hard to find another place like it that has such a variety of activities and events while also embracing a full range of diverse cultures.
6. Hawksbill Crag
This Arkansas icon has been deemed the best place for a selfie as well as the most romantic spot in the state. Feel like the only person in the world as you gaze out upon the Ozark National Forest.
7. White River National Wildlife Refuge
One thing that sets Arkansas apart from other states is our variety of beauty. The White River Refuge resides in the largest remaining bottomland hardwood forests in the Mississippi River Valley.
8. Blue Springs Heritage Center
Transport yourself to a fairy tale when you walk around Blue Spring Lagoon in Eureka Springs. The springs were considered sacred ground and a source for healing physical and emotional wounds.
9. The Old Mill
Another place of fairy tales, the Old Mill at Little Rock is an iconic attraction. Besides being listed on the National Register of Historical Places, the Mill is also best known for its appearance in the opening of Gone With The Wind.
