Flagstaff is easily the snowiest town in Arizona, and it rarely sees a winter without at least some coverage.
This sharp contrast against other metropolitan areas, such as Phoenix, can be attributed to vastly different elevation levels.
On average, about 102 inches of snow fall each year.
The record high was in 1972-73 when a whopping 210 inches blanketed the ground.
Even Williams, located just west of Flagstaff, only averages 74 inches per year.
That's nearly a 30-inch discrepancy, which is huge considering the towns are a mere 45 minutes apart.
To date, Flagstaff's deadliest winter storm occurred in December of 1967.
It was an eight-day event, dumping 86 inches and killing nine people by the time everything was said and done.
Only time will tell if this year will be one of the snowiest ever.
