Greer is best known for Sunrise Park Resort, a ski destination with the most runs and acreage in the state.
Both day and season passes are available, and activities such as ziplining and mountain biking are offered in the warmer months.
Given the town's high elevation, it's the perfect respite from the sweltering Arizona summer heat.
When you hike the West Baldy Trail, the towering aspen trees will make you feel like you're in another state entirely.
Cast a line at Tunnel Reservoir, a 15-acre artificial lake with pristine cobalt waters.
It's one of three man-made lakes in the area, and altogether, they're known as the Greer Lakes.
Mount a horse and go for a ride at Snowy Mountain Stables, located near the base of Sunrise Park Resort.
Native American owned and operated, the stables offer everything from 30-minute rides to overnight adventures. Rates start at $20 per person, and sleigh rides are offered in the winter.
Greer makes a great day trip, but if you have the time, we recommend staying at Greer Lodge Resort & Cabins for a night or two.
