The Grand Canyon state hosts boundless natural, historical, and cultural treasures, and there is a place you can experience all of it. The small town of Cave Creek is situated about 40 minutes north of Phoenix and is home to a wide variety of restaurants, unique and beautiful inns and hotels, and trails that offer a great view of the surrounding desert.
Every trip starts with finding a place to stay, and standing at the center of town is The Prickly Pear Inn.
Located along Main Street, this hacienda-style inn includes spacious rooms, great views of the surrounding mountains, and the location is within walking distance of local bars and restaurants.
Conveniently located next door to the Inn, this is the archway entrance to El Encanto Cantina, a unique and unforgettable open-air restaurant.
While dining on authentic Mexican cuisine, you can observe the natural wildlife that makes its home in the central pond.
The Cave Creek Museum is home to Native American artifacts, as well as mining equipment dating back to the town's founding.
Pictured is a model Hohokam house, built as a replica of those found at the Sears Kay Ruins to the east.
The Jewel of the Creek Preserve is truly beautiful. Plenty of wildlife and different species of cacti reside here, especially the bearer of Arizona's state flower, the mighty Saguaro Cactus.
The easy 1.8-mile Dragonfly Trail is perfect for all skill levels and is popular with locals and tourists alike.
If you want a more challenging hiking experience, consider Black Mountain to the southeast of town.
Rated as difficult, the 2.2-mile trail takes hikers up almost 1,200 feet. The view at the top is more than worth it!
