With a population of just 7,500, Globe is an unexpected travel destination that will provide a relaxing atmosphere along with all the above mentioned visiting opportunities. Read on for more details about what you can do and see while here for a weekend.
First, there’s the scenic drive you’ll likely take when traveling to Globe. Traveling along Apache Trail is gorgeous and a bit of a white-knuckle experience but a drive along the 60 is just as pretty.
Globe's historic district often takes visitors by surprise and is absolutely charming.
Or the old county jail, which you can tour. It's also rumored to be haunted.
One of the major attractions here is Besh Ba Gowah Archeological Park, which features the centuries-old Salado ruins that you can still see today.
For a more recent take on history, check out the Gila County Historical Museum, which focuses on the town's mining history and culture.
At the Cobre Valley Center for the Arts, you’ll find a collection of regional art, historic displays, and the winners of local festivals.
Want to do a bit of shopping? Check out the Pickle Barrel Trading Post, which sits in an old mining warehouse and is the perfect place to find yard art, souvenirs, and regional arts and crafts.

The dining options here are numerous for a town this size! For example, there’s a few favorite Mexican restaurants, like Guayo’s On The Trail and Chalo’s Casa Reynoso.
Grab a drink at the Drift Inn Saloon, one of the oldest drinking establishments in the state.
