There are a lot of tiny towns, cities and villages that make up the total population of Alaska and all of those places have something special and unique about them. Unfortunately, smaller places tend to get less traffic and the businesses there don't get as much recognition as they deserve.
We've decided to compile a list of small towns (<5,000) from around the state that are home to some of the best restaurants you may not know exist! These restaurants really deserve recognition and even though we can't get every great place from around Alaska on this list, we still put together a great collection of places you absolutely must stop the next time you're in town.
1) Homer
There are so many things to love about the small town of Homer. The beautiful sunsets viewed from the spit, the cute stores scattered across town, and of course the food. Next time you're here you should stop in at Two Sisters Bakery, or Fat Olives Restaurant.
2) Soldotna
Soldotna is one-of-a-kind and so are the restaurants around town. Odie's Deli is in an old Wendy's establishment but serves home-made bread and local beers. St. Elias Brewing Company has home-made beers and Senor Pancho's makes some mean Mexican food!
3) North Pole
The tiny town of North Pole has some great food if you ask me. The Pagoda Restaurant is great for Chinese and the portions at Little Richard's Family Diner will leave you stuffed and satisfied.
4) Valdez
Next time you're in Valdez make sure you stop in at the Fat Mermaid. I also hear Oldtown Burgers is worth a stop, too!
5) Seward
Please note, The Cookery is temporarily closed.
With all the cruise ships and tourists, it's no surprise that the tiny town of Seward offers up some INCREDIBLE dining. Don't believe me? Try The Smoke Shack or The Cookery and get back to me.
6) Cordova
Cordova is a beautiful place to live and also an awesome place to get Mexican food! Who know Baja Taco would be that good.
What other tiny towns can you think of with amazing dining options. Share in the comments.
